Where The Palm Trees Sway: One Month in Hawaii

Aloha! We had one incredible month in Hawaii and four videos to prove it! Each week we put together a fun video sharing what mischief we got into on Oahu. From beaches, to snorkeling with sea turtles and manta rays, to eating shave ice, to sailing with friends, to surfing North Shore. We managed squeezed it all in!

Week 1: West Side, Oahu

πŸŒ΄πŸ„β€β™‚οΈ All the S's this week...sun, sand, snorkeling, sea, swimming, surfing (the jibs got a surfboard!), sandals, shave ice, swimsuits, sunnies. And we picked up Mimi on Wednesday!!

Week 1: Oahu’s West Side

Week 2: North Shore, Oahu

Week two was spent on the North Shore surrounded by more family. Thank you Matt and Lydia for visiting and adding so much joy to our trip❀ Side by side houses, warm outdoor showers, driving tours, introducing them to our shave ice addiction, sleepovers (thanks for the parenting break!), iPhone locating (one rolled up on the beach and we actually found the owner!), short runs - and long runs, right Lyd!? Plus I don’t think we went one day the entire week without surfing. It was definitely the week for it. Almost all of us were surfing, and if we weren't, then we were watching surfers. No John John or Kelly Slater sightings yet but Chip and Matt both surfed Pipeline (& actually caught waves). The stoke was high! We did have some wind, rain, and clouds which I tried not to be too crabby about but on a good note they made for some pretty epic sunsets.

Week 2: North Shore Oahu

Week 3: Kailua Area

Week 3, you were so good for the soulπŸŒΊβ›΅We moved over to the Kailua area where the turquoise water & majestic Ko'olau mountain range awaited. We pretended we were locals with yoga classes, cheap massages at the massage school, a sailing trip and BBQ with friends, visit to the botanical gardens, and jogs along the marsh. The boys snorkeled nearly every day, and sadly the surfing tapered off mid-week after Chip took a spill on a skateboard. He played it cool, but after the fact we are pretty sure he broke something in his arm πŸ˜₯ Thankfully there is not a lot of surf on this section of the island anyway!
After nineteen days we had to say goodbye to Mimi. Yes, I'll admit she can wash dishes and fold laundry with the best of them, but her love, support, and enthusiasm with the jibs is priceless and more fun than ever to watch. I can see the love pouring out of her when she hugs the boys, plays with them, and gets down at their level to listen to their never-ending questions πŸ€ͺπŸ€ͺ We can’t thank her enough for spending this time with us. You are one badass mom, grandma, and MIL.
We are into our final week on Oahu...more good stuff to come!

Week 4: Waikiki, Oahu

All the things we love most about Hawaii culminated in Week 4🌴The sailing, snorkeling, surfing, friends, weather...it was all really freaking perfect. Our friends Ang and Cy wowed us with another amazing sailing day in Kaneohe Bayβ›΅ Can you spot the SHARK!? And as we were heading back we spotted manta rays, so Bennett and Chip hopped in for a snorkel with them! Score!
Our last four days were spent in Waikiki, a place many of you know we are mildly obsessed with. Thank you Marriott points, we loved our hotel right on the beach where we could surf multiple times a day plus mess around in the pool. We happy hour'd at the Yard House, walked the strip with a million other tourists, and ran along some of our fave running routes. On one of our last nights, we went sailing with friends at sunset in Waikiki. So good for the soul, and a bonus (surprise?) that none of the seven children fell overboard the entire sail. Afterwards we all sat in awe along the beach watching the Hilton Hawaiian's fireworks show. I'm telling you, I'm still beaming just thinking about it allπŸŽ†

Week 4: Waikiki, Oahu

Thanks everyone for following along and letting us share these moments with you!❀ We are home safe and sound in Durango, enjoying the winter weather from our hot tub!

Love,

Lindsay, Chip, Reid & Bennett
